Laurian Survives War to Earn 3rd-Round TKO 

Samuel Laurian showed why he is the most experienced fighter in the promotion, holding the record for the most total appearances in ANZA MMA history.

Packing a solid 3-1-0 Muay Thai record, Laurian opened the first round trading clean punches with Joshua Ojow before landing a sharp takedown.

Ojow fought hard to get back to his feet against the fence, even looking for a guillotine choke before the first bell sounded.

The action turned up in the second round. 

Ojow shot for a takedown of his own, but Laurian defended it cleanly. 

The two spent the frame locked against the cage, exchanging heavy knees. 

Ojow locked in another guillotine attempt that looked tight, but Laurian stayed calm, escaped, and started firing heavy punches. 

Ojow grabbed a single leg to survive the round and was saved by the bell.

In the third frame, Laurian took complete control. 

He started with crisp lead jabs and targeted Ojow with hard low kicks. 

Ojow tried to counter, but Laurian timed his rhythm perfectly, unleashing a vicious series of punches that forced the referee to stop the fight, taking his unbeaten record to 7-0-1.

Jaffar Sets a Trap for Debut Submission Win

Hassan Jaffar made his official fight debut look easy, showing total composure against an experienced Muay Thai striker to open his record at 1-0-0.

Hassan went straight to work, pushing his opponent against the cage with clean underhooks before taking the fight down with an outside leg trip. 

Once on the canvas, Hassan passed straight into full mount and started dropping heavy punches. 

He transitioned to an armbar, but the opponent managed to escape and tried to throw punches of his own from top position.

That turned out to be a fatal mistake. 

Hassan set a trap from his back, catching his opponent in a tight triangle choke. 

The tap came quick, giving the Nairobi Jiu Jitsu Academy coach a slick first-round submission finish in his very first outing.

Dennis Outworks Sunday in 3-Round Decision

Dennis Nyingi (3-0-0), fighting out of Chanuka Self-Defense, put his complete skillset on display in a 3-round decision victory over Obonyo Sunday. 

Nyingi teaches multiple sessions at Nairobi Jiu Jitsu Academy—including Jiu-Jitsu, wrestling, babyjitsu, and strength and conditioning—and that high-level coaching pace and physical preparation showed in his performance.

In round one, Sunday tried to start with a guillotine against the cage, but Nyingi defended well. 

After a few scrambles back to the center, Nyingi secured a single-leg takedown and briefly looked for a rear-naked choke.

Nyingi changed the tempo in round two, using smooth footwork and low kicks to tire Sunday out. 

When Sunday threw punches, Nyingi faked a jab and shot for a takedown. 

Sunday tried another guillotine, but Nyingi passed to side control, took the back, and used his superior strength and conditioning to overpower Sunday when he tried to reverse position.

In the final round, Sunday came out landing clean punches, but Nyingi stayed mobile. 

Nyingi timed a clean takedown, pinned Sunday against the cage, and controlled the action with relentless cage work right up to the final bell to take the decision victory.

Hamza Takes 1st-Round TKO

Former Nairobi Jiu Jitsu Academy coach Hamza Fahim (2-0-0), fighting out of the Mombasa Sharks, needed minimal time to secure a stoppage victory over Diing Chol.

Diing opened the fight throwing punches, but Hamza timed him perfectly with a clean takedown. 

Diing tried to hold onto Hamza’s neck on the way down, but Hamza slipped out, advanced straight into full mount, and dropped a heavy barrage of ground-and-pound punches to force a referee stoppage in the very first round.

Shadrack Shows Heart in Highly Anticipated Bout

In a highly anticipated match, Nairobi Jiu Jitsu Academy lightweight Shadrack Otieno faced off against Uganda's Raymond.

Both fighters started the first round exchanging heavy low kicks. 

Raymond landed a takedown, but Shadrack defended well on the canvas, got back up, and used a good clinch against the cage to look for a takedown of his own. 

Using his long reach, Shadrack kept Raymond on the outside and controlled the distance back against the fence to win early exchanges.

In round two, Raymond caught one of Shadrack’s kicks to go for a takedown, but Shadrack defended it cleanly. 

Raymond then missed with a spinning back kick. 

Shadrack went for another kick, but as he reset, Raymond found space to land a clean knockdown punch. 

Raymond followed up with a quick barrage on the canvas, prompting the referee to step in and stop the fight. 

Despite the loss, Shadrack showed high-level defensive wrestling, great reach control, and immense heart against a tough opponent.
